Walk With God In Faith And Prayer

A chapter in the book Walk with God in Faith

I Desire Peace Around Me

by Sandra du Plessis

Background
Walk with God in faith and prayer.

Psalm 122:1,6 "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord ... Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: They shall prosper that love Thee."

In the song of Zion, there was one pilgrim who speaks on behalf of the group who traveled to Jerusalem, where they attended a religious festival.

The songs of Zion can be found in (Psalms 46,48,76,84,87, and 122) where they sang about Jerusalem as the place where God's House stands, among His people. In Psalm 122, they reached Jerusalem, and with great joy, they praised His Name at His Temple.

The history of Jerusalem is of conflict and tension. The pilgrims need to travel to a peaceful destination where they can meet with the Lord at His Temple on Mount Zion.

This Psalm calls on believers through the ages to pray for peace in Jerusalem. Peace and harmony can be found between the people who gather there. There are still conflict and hatred between different groups in Jerusalem that need all our prayers to bring peace into Jerusalem.

We can also pray on our journey and destination to find peace wherever we go. Let us encourage one another to continue praying for peace in our countries; we can also call on ourselves to promote peace around us.

Ask the Lord in our prayers to use us as peacemakers wherever we go in our daily lives.

When we have faith in God, the path we have to walk becomes straighter and easier each day.

NS: I quote the Bible Verse before my own interpretation, not because I want to fill the space, but in honor of God's word as it can be found in the Bible. I am using the KJV version of 1959.
