A spiritual rondeau

If I Am Alone

by RodG

Rondeau Poetry Contest Winner
If I'm alone at dusk to see
the golden sun sit comfort'bly
upon a lake serene, so still,
I'll paddle while the songbirds trill
toward spreading shadows distantly.

It's at this time God's most with me,
and day's last glow seems heavenly
when clouds slip by and winds are nil--
If I'm alone . . .

As twilight nears, and day does flee,
I feel a need to silently
thank Him for life and my freewill,
to let His Spirit my heart fill.
Oh, Lord, thy Glory's there to see
if I'm alone . . .
