Bridezilla and the Superglue

by Sally Law

"Just pick up the pieces," I said, trying to maintain my wedding-day composure.

The bride-to-be came out of her make-up chair, half done. "What do you mean your shoe is in pieces?"

"It's just the heel," I said. "Gina has to have Superglue somewhere in her ginormous purse. Don't you, Gina?"

She was already on it, dumping her bag on the table. "It's just a little bitty tube... gotta be in here somewhere."

Oh no, it couldn't happen fast enough for the bride. She was going over the edge and started in on me. "You just had to buy cheap shoes, didn't you? Where did you get those? Ross?"

"Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it. Besides, you've been shopping with me. You know how I like to stretch a buck."

Gina piped in. "I had a Gucci bag once that shredded on the inside. I'm embarrassed to say how much I paid for that."

"Girls... focus. My wedding is in one freaking hour! I don't even know if I want to be superglued to this guy for all eternity!"

I set aside my broken shoe; and Gina, her purse. We wrapped our arms around the bride.

"We're here for you, sweetie," I said. "Don't worry about the shoes."

An hour later, all was well and we all went barefoot.

Cheap shoes... who needs them?
