I've Lost My Mind

by Raul1

I don't know what I am doing. Everything seems to be going well in my life. I still live with my parents. I am Jerry and live in California. It is just huge. I most often get lost in it. I am not married. I do talk to my friends at restaurants, stores, and places. I don't go out with them. I think that this is why I feel spaced out.

My parents take me to places but am a lousy driver. Way back in high school, I failed the physical driving test. The Driver's Ed teacher gave me an F and kicked me out of the class. I have blanks in my mind about all sorts of past experiences. What should I do? Be happy, and snap out of it, you'll tell me.

I only hang out with my family, and that's about it. But, I did graduate high school. I still remember those times when I felt like I was in space. I still do. My brother Earl came back, from a military war, he recently fought overseas for our freedom. He came to visit my parents and me for the weekend. He is married with kids.

He looks at me with a puzzled face.

"What's wrong?" Earl asked.

"I feel lost. I can't get out of this funky feeling!" I complained.

My family thinks that I am a worrywart. They think of me as a worrier. They want me to be happy.

"Look, buddy! I know what worries you. You think you don't have any friends, but you do. These things take time," he told me.

"You mean my life will turn out great? But, I am lonesome!" I cried.

"No, you're not. You will have everything in life. You're just different. Look, I fought this war for your freedom, and everyone here, to have joy in your life," Earl explained.

I was just without words. My brother had fought in a war. He won my heart and felt confident not to be lost anymore. Brothers are always there for each other.

Next thing you know, I am going out with my buddies after all. I am such a dufus for thinking that I've gone blank in my mind. I don't anymore.
