A lament.

Lord, I will cry...

by royowen

...

Return to me the joy I had,
when I awoke my heart was glad.
Lord, I will cry, o soul, arise --
sing praises for my crown and prize.

So when the magpie warbles long,
and eagles sing their victory song.
When mercy rises with the sun --
creation shouts great things God's done.

And yet I hear God's pleading voice,
man turned away salvation's choice.
The wheat's been gathered, time's near flown,
the seal's been cast, grace winds have blown.

When time has ceased its mournful march,
its scroll's rolled up; Earth's fields lie parched.
Who will hear that clarion call --
pass through the veil at curtain's fall?
