Menagerie Imagination

by Wils

The cow in the field

Asked the duck in the pond

“Do you know what is past this farm

And beyond?

I’ve heard there’s a land

Where coomow’s roam free

No milking or calving

How grand would that be”

“Yes, yes,” quacked the duck

“I know that you’re right

Quadax, they live there

Always taking flight

There are roads made of water

Coloured red, green and pink

It’s all bright and sparkly

What do you think?”

“You know,” neighed the horse

Piping up from afar

“They say there’s a huge rainbow

As big as a star

Children let balloons

Float right up to the top

Big golden yellow ones

Then they hear them go “POP”

“That place sounds amazing”

Said the duck with much glee

“Do you think we could see it

Could we, us three.”

“I think we could go there,”

Said the cow, who was wise

“we could really see it

If we all shut our eyes”

So the duck closed her eyes

the horse and cow too

And right there, they saw it

Coloured red, green and blue.

A big rainbow sky

With quadax flying around

Watery roads

Coomows free on the ground

The farm animals stared

At this land they had made

They hoped they could live here

Wished they had stayed

They promised to visit

Said they’d come again

In their imagination

This land would remain
