My love affair following a prison break
She Bounds Upward Like a Dolpin

My love affair began eighteen months ago. My Beloved was nabbed by the police and cruelly placed in a wire cage without a drop of water to drink. Her heart-rending wailing was relentless.
In response, I planned to smuggle in some water for her parched lips. But when I found her panting in a cage three sizes too small, I knew that nothing less than a prison break would satisfy her urgent needs. So I pried the door open, and my Beloved leapt free. She began licking my face incessantly.
Since then, we have been inseparable. Each morning, she quietly watches me as I sleep. She comes forward and begins licking my face only when she detects that I am awake. She shudders as I massage her sleek body from head to toe. For months after the prison break, she wouldn't tolerate such intimate touching. Gradually, however, we have come to trust each other.
When I put my shoes on, she gets agitated and squeals with delight. She knows what's coming. Rain or shine, she trots at my side. She licks dew off the grasses. When she detects cat odors, she goes half-crazy. She leaps into the sea of grasses, disappears, and then suddenly bounds upward like a dolphin arcing out of her salty waters.

While raising a family, my children had various pets. Among them was an assortment of dogs. Only now that I have four score years have I become emotionally bonded to a dog. And it's a mutual bond. I have been such a slow learner in this arena. Thanks to Elena and Foxina, I am completely converted.
