A short poem about the second coming of Christ

The Rapture

by GE Parson

(1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor.15:50-54)

I changed in a twinkling of an eye, As I heard the trumpet sound.
As I rocketed into the sky, I saw Angels all around.
I was heading to heaven--for free, Flying with the Christian crowd.
I saw Jesus descending for me, Right through a cottony cloud.
The dead believers in Christ first rise, To meet the Lord in the air.
Then following next we living guys, Float up from everywhere.
There is no sorrow over what I leave, Now that new life comes my way.
I am fully convinced I'll receive, Eternal riches this day.
I am part of a selected few, Who will never have to die.
You might be in this select group too, If on Jesus you rely.

I have been given permission to copy and post this poem written by my incarcerated friend, Milton Weir.
