102-word true story
Your Favorite
by Bill Schott
My kids are in their thirties, but still vie for their mother's attention. On Mother's Day, both gave her a card signed, YOUR FAVORITE.
She turned to Adam and thanked him. Adam grinned and looked towards his sister. "I'M her favorite."
Katie smiled, confident that SHE was her mother's favorite.
"Mother," she said, "just tell him who you love best."
My wife looked at her and said, "I love you."
She turned to Adam and said, "I adore you."
Adam strolled over to Katie and said, "She adores me."
Katie smirked and said, "Ahh, but she doesn't LOVE you."
