Cinderella retold

I masked myself in wonder

by Iza Deleanu

I put on my mask with feathers
I close the door behind,
I masked myself in wonder,
Trying to re-arrange
One last escape from mother
And from the boring fate.
I'm tired of the yelling
My heart is not foretelling
In fairy tales of folks!

My mask will give me freedom
To dance with whom, I want
Twirling around in reason
A little nonchalant.
I masked myself in wonder
And moving like the thunder
A little Prince I got!

I masked myself in wonder
I am happy there's no doubt.
Farewell you, crazy mother
This Cinderella's out!
