A story about new love

New Love

by Puzzle

It all started the day you came home with that box. I remember the day. You were so excited and I was excited for you. At the time I didn't realize that box would change my entire life.

The day the box came I was in the kitchen. The memory of that day is so vivid. You picked up the box, and as you held it, you started discussing new adventures you had been dreaming about. I began to get excited as well. Up until that day, it was always you and I. You shared everything with me. Your hopes, dreams, heartbreak and happiness. The way you would hold me while expressing every emotion to me, knowing I would never judge you.

We had the kind of bond that couples only dreamed of. You needed me and I needed you. Without you, I have no purpose. That might sound dramatic, but it's true. I thrive off of your every
Idea, I hang on your every word.

But now, all of that is in the past. The moment you opened that box I knew it was over. The look on your face said it all. I glanced in the box and I knew I could never compete with what was in front of me. I was heartbroken. Your new love had given you something I could never give to you. Your new love was more intelligent, faster and more powerful than I.

It was your new love that would now be sharing your hopes, dreams, heartbreak and happiness, while I just stare, looking dejected in the kitchen. The day you opened that box the computer became your new love; I became your old love, the pencil.

I love personification. Any chance I get to do it I will! I took this challenge as an opportunity to personify a computer and a pencil. I hope this qualifies as an entry! Also, keep showing pencils love!! They need love too!
