Changed my life

A Pebble

by Janet Foor

A little pebble rolled across my room
and came to rest beside my feet. I took
a breath and marveled at this brilliant sphere.
This rolling little ball with vibrant spikes.

I turned and still another pebble spun
and twirled before it found its way to me.
This one was sapphire blue and purple hues
with dazzling colored spikes just like the first.

I sat down on the floor as pebbles flowed
from each and ev'ry corner of the room.
Not knowing what they were, I took them in
to share with fam'ly and the neighborhood.

From there I watched into the endless night
that seemed to go beyond forevermore.
These pebbles seized and captured time and space
and all I've known has changed from that first breath.

A Blank Verse poem.
My son-in-law is recovering from the coronavirus and so this has been on my mind, as it is on everyone's mind today.
I wrote this after a very restless night and listening to the news.

Stay safe and well everyone and thank you for reading.
