My Busy Life of Variety

Who am I?
Well now, I’ll try
to give you a glimpse.
It might make you wince --
so much energy, but that’s me, you’ll see.

There’s more to life than just looking next door:
I aim for rapport, not keeping score; I adore amor.
For a thrill, I’ll climb a hill or learn a new skill; I’ll not sit still;
Playing a sport, thinking a thought, sailing from port --
all these will please, put mind and body at ease.
I’ll enjoy each stage; turn the page; forget my age.
I like cheese, birds and bees, a scented Spring breeze.
I’ll adopt a kitty out of pity, to pat a cat -- I do like that.
I’m fit and healthy; I’ve never been wealthy --
I don’t flush my money down the dunny
on trendy trash and looking flash while spending cash.
I drink craft beer; I volunteer; I change my own gear --
I don’t live life on automatic, or generate white-noise static.
Blah blah won’t go far with me -- I prefer my own company.
I don’t like out and loud in a heaving crowd.
(I’m pleased now that it’s not allowed.)

Of these I’m proud:
You can depend on me most reliably;
I use my wit just a little bit; I never quit;
and if you need a team player,
I’m the answer to your prayer.
