Passion's Refrain

by Y. M. Roger

The author has placed a warning on this post for sexual content.

It’s funny how a simple song
Can shatter walls so long forgotten:
A Blue familiar melody
Recalls the hot, sweet smell o' cotton…

You were temptation, were you not?
With choc’late eyes and whisky voice
That poured like
rain and hypnotized,
Vanquishing all conscious choice…

How Eric Burdon’s
Steam Roller
Over-pow'rd our loud A/C,
Your arms, your body – they owned mine
As wanton need drove us crazy…

No sound will ever touch my soul,
No passion ever reach so deep,
As your
bellow of release
Joined with my shout of ecstasy…

Those walls went up when we both walked,
Packed up the Blues for bigger dreams,
But even now that simple song
Bears cotton’s scent and passion’s screams…
