Ripples Upon The River

The river's serenity is being disturbed. Ripples spoiling the calm savagely left and right, aggressive and threatening.
The captive knows, to escape this unknown and bloody assault, they must breach the surface, the change in direction would enable them to strain the piercing hold of this intruder.
With sheer determination, powering upward, dragging their captor skyward, breaking the line of certain death, they swam wearily towards freedom...
Meanwhile on the bank, a hungry fisherman sleeps... !
