You Think It's Yours

I got it first, this is my spot.
Ha!  I am here and you are not.
You want to sit down in your chair?
Why, you can sit just anywhere.
 
You always claim it for your own.
Don’t look at me in quite that tone.
The race is on.  It’s time for bed,
and I will beat you, sleepyhead.
 
Why do I always want your space?
I feel so loved in that warm place.
I’m shoved aside to make you room
and so I sit and sulk and fume.
 
Do you not know who’s really boss?
If heads or tails, I win the toss.
Have I not taught you anything?
Why, all who know me, know I’m king.
 
So, don’t expect that special seat,
or lying where you think most sweet.
Said many times, I’ll say again.
You’ll always lose.  I’ll always win.
