The Man Upon The Cross

by Monica Chaddick

A man spread out upon the cross,
Blood dripping from His wounds
In pain and torment, crying out
Born from His mother's womb-
Born to die upon that cross
To save the world from sin.

Hung between two thieves
Whose sinning He forgave
Before their souls were parted
From their bodies in their graves.

He cried out to His father,
"You have forsaken me"
Before He breathed His last breath
On that dreary, fateful day.

His beaten body was removed
From that wooden cross
And laid to rest by caring hands,
And then the stone was rolled across.

He rose again to spread the word,
A message for to share,
Letting the entire world know
He died - their souls to spare.

The entire world was saved from sin,
All because of Him!

Our sins forgiven, our place preserved
In Heaven up above
Because of His great sacrifice
And undying love.

He gave His body and mortal life
So we could all live free,
Our eternity in Heaven
Where He wanted us to be.

All of this He did for us,
The people who didn't believe -
Or those that did believe in Him,
But in silence grieved.

Our mortal world took His life,
And He took the loss.
To save us from damnation,
This man spread out upon the cross.
