American Pride

by the13thpoet

I love this country
Yes I do! Home of the brave
the red, white, and blue

I love this nation
I must say! Freedom is the
American way

Love my countrymen
That's no doubt! We all unite
when trouble's about

This country's the best
Damn straight! That's why we must keep
America great

But who thinks we're great?
It couldn't be the natives
you have sealed their fate

Surely not the blacks
you made them slaves, chained them up
they can't get away

Not the Mexicans
our neighbors at the border
here we'll deport ya

Where did we go wrong?
It's hard to see, but we're far
from where we should be

But it's not too late
to set things straight, then maybe
we will become great

First, retrain the brain
everyone is equal, so
treat them all the same

Then, most important
of all, united we stand
divided we fall

What will you decide?
Unite or hide? Show us your
American Pride
