The ending of a serious flaw, forbidden love affair.

A Letter

by Marjon van Bruggen

Clouds that trail and mist that weaves
wind flows soft through reeds and leaves.
Love, forbidden but so endless sweet
moments when true lovers meet.

Dawn gleams its first hesitant light
while morning's veils of magic might
retain a touch of lips, a dreamy kiss.
The serpent's apple that I cannot miss.

I write and know the words to be
in vain "our love's forbidden, but you see
I look for a way out, a chance for us.
Let me hope, no, let us plunge into the rush

of time and swing into its whirl to drown".
An impossible passion, bound to go down.
Both long ago married, bonded by faith
our dream must be ended by such tragic fate.
