right on time

swifts circled and dived
straight into the post office
chimney at twilight

Writing Prompt
Write a three-lined poem with a syllable count 5-7-5 where line one has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables and the last line has 5 syllables. The topic is bird or birds. Creative approaches welcome.


We used to take the grandkids downtown to watch the birds circle and circle, then dive into the post office chimney, as if on a signal. Thanks to Browncat for good twilight image, with the feel of a small town.
