Joy is destroyed...

Without Forgiveness

by Diana L Crawford

The most loving act
we can ever perform
is to give the gift
of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is not
meant to comfort
or change another;
it is meant to restore
peace in our own heart.

Without forgiveness,
the heart grows bitter,
but that bitterness
does not affect the one
we feel slighted by;
it only destroys our joy.

And when we give this gift,
we must never forget to
also forgive ourselves.
