When you seek some warming heat
and want the sunny seat,
first you must move the cat.

He will try to spoil your fun
when you want to sit in the sun –
he’ll stretch out to claim his space
with insouciance and grace
then browbeat you with his glare.

He really doesn’t care
if you want the comfy chair,
to cushion your derriere.
First you must move the cat,
and that is that.

But when you do,
he’ll sit on you –
still the best seat in the house.
