These Eyes of Mine

by Jesse James Doty

As my eyes grow dimmer
they glance at a shimmer
of a glowing ember.

Showing glimmers, I remember
when dreams were bright
with hopes to ignite my sight.

Despite loss of vision,
my mind shows revision
of darkness and light.

Creative ideas were seen
through my psyche's senses, keen
on promoting a vivid dream.

With pen in hand, I design
a virtual view of mine--
a special spectacular kind
that enables me to be able to see
at my fingertips' tactile accuracy.

This I penned, from a recent experience where my vision was compromised, and it was difficult to read books or use my computer. My eyes are steadily improving so, I am back on Fan Story. My eyes tire easily so, I need lots of breaks to rest my eyes, but otherwise, I am able to do what I love best - read and write poetry.

Thanks for reading.
