a brief bio
Six Siblings - Albert
by Bill Schott
I am the youngest of six children. I hope to briefly identify my older brothers and sisters from the eldest to the brother closest to me.
My fifth sibling was my next older brother, Albert. He was born in 1953. Always overweight, he suffered the harangue from kids and adults all through his childhood.
During high school he dropped all the bad weight and beefed up for athletics. He discovered he was a gifted mechanic and he chose it as his career.
Albert was dissatisfied with the lower forty-eight states so, in 1974, he moved to Alaska. He found a home in North Pole and lived on Sesame Street.
Being the only transmission mechanic for forty miles, he became wealthy in a short period of time. He was also quite frugal, so his money went into treasury bills.
He only returned to Michigan four times since then. Once to buy a truck for half of what they wanted in Fairbanks, once to get married and take his bride back to Alaska, and for our parents' funerals.
Albert lived in Alaska the rest of his life. He had two boys, divorced his wife, and lived alone for the last decade. He passed away in 2019 from an untreated infection which first cost him a leg.
