Love and lust go together...do they not!?

Another Fool Bites the Dust

by Aaqib Naeem

Grant me your mercy Lord!
Lend me Your ear tonight!
Spare some time; do not get bored
Let me confess before my spirit takes flight!

You know my tale better than me
But I am nervous; so just humor me
I am barely holding back the bile
Forgive me if it takes a little while!

I have been blessed, and truly so
For you have been generous, benevolently so
Faith I maintain in your mysterious ways
No matter the silence or delays!

Never have I known Your untempered wrath
Yet here I stand; short of breath
As I make my way towards the altar
My gait betrays; my feet falter!

Broken and bowed in utter shame
I curse myself for playing this game
My glowing spirit has now dimmed
Forgive me for I have sinned!

A gift of love I was given
One so true and unquestionably pure
What would it take to be forgiven?
For giving in to the wicked lure!

I see the angels by Your side
They shake their heads at my demise
Thought I could handle the tide
Oh how quickly I fell after my rise!

In a tone full of sorrow
They chant my name
My pride is their's to borrow
To rid it I came!

The decision rests with You, My Lord!
Should I roam free or be put to sword?
For it was me who sinfully strayed
And it was You whom I betrayed!

While you decide; let the angels sing
May we all heed the warning they bring!
They sing off me in unison
And of a God forsaken worldly poison!

'His morals were in a state of rust
Thought he was infallible; till his bubble burst
He became a victim of his lust;
Yet another fool bites the dust!'

Author Notes:

This is a one-sided spiritual conversation about accepting your faults and flaws in front of God and thanking Him for his generousness and begging Him for forgiveness.

It is also about how something as pure as love, under certain circumstances, loses its pureness and shape for something more carnal and primitive.
