Reflections and realizations through life

Such is Faith

by Y. M. Roger

There were angels
I just knew,
Watching me and
watching you…

Such was the faith
of a child,
When innocence
gently smiled.

A prayer before
that big game,
For my heart’s crush
or for fame…

Such was the faith
of a teen,
When selfishness
was quite keen.

A constant ache
Not acute,
Called in the night
its voice mute…

Spoke to my heart,
I spoke back.
That connection,
my ‘fall back’…

Such was the faith
of aged youth,
When fearlessness
belied truth.

That ache’s now need
as my years,
Frame life through both
Love and tears…

And all of them
weigh my soul,
I reach for prayer
to console…

Such is the faith
of these days,
When disquiet
is a plague…

Yet, on my knees
deep in prayer,
I re’lize angels
are still there. . .
