My Life Of Joy And Love

by LisaMay

My life tangles with threads spun into a rope –
so many strands all tied up with ‘hope’.
My head is worn flat with the hats that I wear –
some are official, some show that I care;
some are for sport, some are for protection,
variety for each different direction.
For I am a person who likes to partake
of all that’s on offer, for joy and love’s sake.

From a simple pleasure to the grandest treasure,
all will get the same respect from me.
I have learned it is best to see
that life is a gift. So, to the best of my ability,
I’ve tried to cause no rift; to not dwell on the past;
to go slowly, not fast; to savour each repast;
to take time for the roses; and not assume poses.
I’ve tried to be honest and fair, to not rudely stare,
but to care and to share with all who are there.
Life can be a test – after I've done my best,
I can go peacefully to my rest.

The path to this life has been worn thin with strife –
I’ve had to go it alone, warding off the odd stone
that on a bad day has been hurled my way
by those who think that I’m odd. But I’m a child of God,
so on I plod, drawing nearer to Thee quite happily.
In all simplicity, all I need to feel free
is to live unselfishly amidst creativity.
See? That’s me.
