Fame nor fortune are mine.

For I Have Loved

by A. Willow Bends

past sixty now
where did time go?
not slowly
but rather racing along
once there were grandiose dreams; schemes

became a bystander
an outlier
reeking of things undone
without regret

refuse to part with a gift from the heart
cards and memories

who will want all this?
no one
minimalize, I must
there are no trusts to leave behind
no legacy
no treasures to find
with all my soul
I love
I celebrate the first-rate
little victories

footprints of mine will blow away in the sand
no bands will play

my life?
each single day through
I have loved
