Daydreaming

On this, a wintry day inside,
I dream of rainbows in the sky,
revealing blue above once more
and cotton clouds that float on by.

I walk down to a lovely path
that leads through woods so lush and green.
And near a stream that gently flows,
the birds sing out - a peaceful scene.

The trail takes me 'round to a pond
where son and dad cast fishing line.
They're hoping for the day's big catch
to hear mom say, "You did just fine!"

I wander towards the wooden bridge
and stop to throw a stick or two;
I watch it float away downstream
just as a child I used to do.

I actually live across the road from a county park that has several walking trails through the woods, a stream, a pond, and beautiful wooden bridge. With temps in the teens and snowfall on the ground right now, I cannot help but wish for warmer days. xoxo
