Very important issues to discuss

The committee

by jenintorre

The committee met monthly in the church hall
to discuss how things should be done.
The six devout members were always present
to decide how the village was run.

Bill Williams was the president
and sat at the head of the table.
He was the oldest resident,
he and his nosey wife, Mabel.

Fred the farmer and Bert the builder
sat on the right hand side.
On the left, Dan the undertaker
with Betty, short but wide.

She was the treasurer,
a very important role,
as she was in charge of the finances
and kept everything under control.

The minutes of the last meeting were read
which didn't take long at all.
Whether to have a collection
to buy the cricket team a new ball.

They'd discussed the matter thoroughly
but decided not to go ahead
because the money it would cost
could be spent on biscuits instead.

Today on the agenda
was a very important issue,
whether to update the church hall's loo
from hard paper to soft toilet tissue.

After much discussion
they agreed it should be done.
Although it was more expensive
it would be so much kinder on the bum.
