A Rondel for our wildlife

Gentle Compassion

by Chrissy710

Our precious wildlife suffer awful burns
but, in their human saviour's place their trust.
with cream on paws, sit quietly they must
as carer's gently treat; they wait in turns.

Compassion for these creatures bring concerns,
from fire's savage pathway they were thrust.
Our precious wildlife suffer awful burns
but, in their human saviour's place their trust.

Yet from this tragedy there's much to learn;
how man and beast together can adjust,
connections built on mutual needs robust
and for each other love, how quickly earns
Our precious wildlife suffer awful burns.

Writing Prompt
This poem is the similar to the rondeau poem. The first and second lines repeat in the middle of the poem and at the end. Although only the first line repeats at the end. The rhyme scheme is normally ABba abAB abbaA(B). More information and an example.

Resulting from Australia's recent terrible bushfires is also the huge cost to our wildlife.

Many die and only a few are rescued.

But for those rescued, there are many who lovingly care and treat these animals until their burns are healed. Then they release them back into their natural habitat when ready.

Seeing pictures of our burnt Koala's and their carers brought a tear but also gave me the incentitive to try a Rodel

I hope I have done it justice
