lighting a feast
too pretty to eat.

and a flan.

Shiny pink
lychees,
all the way from Japan.

Dollops of cream
lashings of butter
creme caramel,
I'm giddy, I shudder.

Flaky, warm pies
fragrant and sweet.
Golden profitaroles
stacked in a heap.

Spun candy bridges
span chocolate streams,
bouquets of fruits,
thin crepes stacked in reams.

Cupcakes,
cookies
dipped in ganache,
red velvet icing
swirled with panache.

Puddings
and tortes
jeweled with fruit,
gingerbread men
in red candy suits

I wake in my bed
not a crumb to be found.
A delicious dream...
but I gained seven pounds.
