The Legendary Florida Winters

In Florida, believe it or not, it gets cold.
We fear for our pets and bring them into the fold.

Sometimes it gets down into the sixties at night.
At temps like that an alligator just might,

freeze to death, along with his human.
A twenty degree drop in the temp can,

force one to wear mittens and a knit cap,
not to mention all the energy it can zap!

Shivering is exhausting, and turning blue,
can clash with your color palette if it's the wrong hue.

For two whole days we batten down the hatches,
as during those days there are patches

of that wretched sixty degree cold.
After two days it gets really old.

Florida winters! The horror!
Spending at least forty-eight hours frozen to the core.

Break out the snowsuits,
and be sure you have fur lined boots,

pray you survive. Winters here are brutal,
You may even have to put away your pool noodle!

So if you visit in December, be sure you prepare.
You don't want to end up in Urgent Care,

with frostbite on a toe.
Florida Winters, that's just how they roll.
