A proud mom recalls 'one of those times'...

A Tiny Bit Talented

by Y. M. Roger

My five-year-old Benjamin was quite precocious. Musically gifted, he already played numerous songs on the piano.** But the thrust of Ben’s talent was singing: whether building Legos or climbing trees, he would belt out songs in an angel’s voice.

On a whim, I brought him to audition for the city-wide production of Christmas Carol. Watching those judges’ faces as his Ode to Joy echoed around the auditorium, I cried a mother’s tears of irrepressible pride.

After each show without exception, the youngest-ever Tiny Tim graciously accepted praise and autographed programs:   “Did you enjoy the show?”   “Thanks for coming!”
......
...
.
Did I mention precocious?

** All of our boys began piano lessons at age three.

Hey, a mom can brag! It was ALL him (the little ham!) - all I did was transportation, food, and costumes. Oh, and I practiced a bit more patience... for a short time!! ;)

Although he starred in later productions to include La Boheme and others, soccer and science crept up to take priority in my Benman's life. He still enjoys singing and playing the piano (oh, yes, he has a professional keyboard that lives with him and his cat - lol!). Benjamin graduated this year with his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and is currently in graduate school.

Yes, this is a pic of my very own Tiny Tim. Isn't he handsome? ;) ;)

As always, I thank you for reading me! ;)
