I live in Northern New York State, about 30 minutes from Canada. We often see temperatures of 50 below zero with the windchill, and it is not out of the ordinary to receive 2 feet of snow. The ice can be treacherous. Yet looking at pine trees covered with new fallen snow and breathing in that fresh cold air is both beautiful and invigorating.
