Lurking in the Shadows

She lurks around the neighborhood
inspecting places no dog would.
With stealth she sneaks into a shed
surprising bunnies in their bed
with no regard for babyhood.

She spots a mouse beneath the wood
about ten feet from where she stood,
but chased a butterfly instead.
She lurks around...

She heads towards home like most pets would
when supper starts to smell real good.
But then a notion fills her head
to detour towards the old farmstead
to rattle feathers, if she could.
She lurks around...
