The Kindness of Strangers

by June Sargent

Koalas were endangered by wildfire,
when kindhearted strangers came to their aid.
Their generous spirit we had to admire.
How sad the outcome had they delayed.

When kindhearted strangers came to their aid,
their care and nurturing helped them to heal.
How sad the outcome had they delayed.
Humanity's goodness they thus reveal.

Their care and nurturing helped them to heal,
pulling koalas back from the brink.
Humanity's goodness they thus reveal,
so balance of nature will not sink.

Pulling koalas back from the brink,
they acted swiftly in spite of dangers.
So balance of nature will not sink,
we need to rely on the kindness of strangers.
