A Terza Rima Sonnet

A Flower

by June Sargent

a flower floats in warm September breeze
across the pond where koi plays hide and seek
among the lilies tadpoles swim with ease

the flower slowly follows winding creek
where weeping willows secrets often keep
of lovers cooing 'neath them cheek to cheek

from there it floats across the valley deep
where apple trees are laden with fruit sweet
and tangled pumpkin vines through patches creep

the flower drops and settles on a street
where two young girls feel sad they cannot buy
a gift for mom, who so deserves a treat

the flower was a gift from heaven above
such undeniable proof that God is love
