Pix Club Challenge - Pies

What Price the Slice

The politician eyed the pie,
I’d like a slice, but at what price?
 
He wondered if there was a way
to stay the man he was today;
or if by tasting of these fruits,
he’d lose the fiber of his roots.
 
Rhubarb asks, as strawberries pass;
can we agree to mix and  match?
The berries laugh as they depart.
You are too tart, with no soft heart!
Undaunted  by their glib retort,
grabbed honeycomb for some support;
and to the berries wonderment
found sweet addition heaven sent.
Who knew the two would be so fine,
when something fragrant was combined.
 
It worked for them, why not for me?
They each maintained integrity,
and when the union was complete
the savory goodness hard to beat.
 
Sure there are things to overcome
until a pie is finally done.
Yet no ingredient should lose,
its hidden grace or fortitude.
 
Avoid the taste of tangy spite
and everything will turn out right.
Fill juicy rifts with tenderness
as this will bless the rest with zest.
For in the final recipe,
each flavor should lend harmony.

Pies take multiple ingredients and combine them into something everyone loves. I used the Strawberry & Rhubarb flavor as a learning tool in this as it is two very different tastes and textures that work beautifully together just like Congress could if they were willing to try :).
