Here’s the thing about most politicians –
They say whatever voters want to hear
But, once voted in, they do away with
Things that most Americans hold dear.
 
We vote them in and sometimes they betray us,
Their own agendas utmost on their mind;
Gone, the lofty goals they started out with
And their honesty, some leave behind.
 
Washington, DC—the Golden Mecca—
Tarnished halos litter everywhere;
They forgot the reasons that we sent them;
They got what they wanted: to get there.
 
Power, power, power is the by-word.
Scratch my back and you bet I’ll scratch yours;
They arrive with good ideas and visions
But soon they’re making deals behind closed doors.
 
Reputations flying out the window
They have reached the pinnacle of power
Serve the people? That was just a promise;
Perks and more perks pile up by the hour.

Sanctuary cities for illegals
Crime is rampant, people getting shot;
Blame the President for things that they do;
Accountability? That they have not.
 
Is this vicious cycle ever stopping?
I believe that it is getting worse.
Socialism closing in upon us,
Young folk think it’s good, but it’s a curse.
 
Did you know most H of R’s are lawyers?
What do they produce? Can you name one?
On the other hand, Repubs are working
On the things they promised to get done.
 
Conservatives, by nature, are more cautious—
Don’t jump with both feet before they think.
They give the homeless jobs instead of food stamps,
Training those who’re standing on the brink.
 
Who learn to pull their weight instead of loafing;
Earning money, and with it, respect.
From job applications they are hopeful
They will see acceptance, not reject.
 
The Land of Opportunity is waiting
For those with education and resolve;
Aspirations—something to be proud of—
Solving problems needing to be solved.
 
When you’re given freedom, do not waste it.
Your decisions, yours alone, to make;
Vote for Socialism, and you’ll lose it.
Government control is there, to take.
 
America was founded on an idea:
Liberty for all—you have a choice:
Vote for Socialism—you will have none,
Vote Conservative—you have a voice!
