a poem

my sense of place.

by judester

Springtime of my childhood,
now seen in autumn's haze.
I was blessed, I know that now,
recalling wondrous days.

Funny how the little things
fill our hearts so wistfully.
Homemade stockings hanging,
glows of countless Christmas trees.

Thanksgiving, we would gather
heads bowed, by Father's grace.
Lake cottage, swimming sessions
gave me my sense of place.

Four sisters and a brother
great parents and a home,
swirl back to me, sweet memories,
in my heart, then in a poem.
