Storm warning

Total Eclipse Coming

by Mike Stevens

Seems these dispirited years of volatile days,
With our hearts so low and the constitution ablaze,
A black-out sun shines weakly through the gloom,
I'm waiting for common sense and normal to resume.
Sailing on a storm-racked sea, our little boat is tossed,
If not for the memories of just a few, the whole damn ship is lost.
Can't see the light through closed eyes and set-in-stone hearts
1950's wishes and titanic sea-change are tearing us apart.
We're soon to sink if we cling to our present course,
And come next week things are about to become much worse.
