Bittersweet
Fifteen years have passed,
since we met here in this place.
Still though, I remembered
every line upon your face.
It seems like only yesterday
my love, we chose to meet.
In the little local park,
that sits just down the street.
The air was ozone heavy,
as black clouds filled the sky.
The pipe you carried, soon was drenched.
The storm passed quickly by.
Not meant to be together,
yet your touch on me feels right.
I still recall the words we said,
on the final fateful night.
In my hand you pressed a flower,
it was part of your goodbye.
The crushed petals fell from my grasp,
as I began to cry.
So much hurt between us,
but that was long ago
when we were youthful actors
caught up in a drama show.
The time that's passed has taught us,
it wasn't quite so bad.
The love and hate we played out,
shouldn't make us feel so sad.
Together now we whisper,
of things that we have learned.
The scars that we've collected,
the times that we've got burned.
Even after fifteen years,
you mean so much to me.
I hate when I look in your eyes,
regret is what I see.
There's so much life that's waiting,
for us to take a chance.
It's time for us to let it go,
let's seize the day and dance.
In fifteen years let's meet again,
if all the fates allow.
My eyes, for now, will drink you in,
you look so perfect now.
I've burned you in my memory,
that look that's on your face.
Until we touch and share again,
at our special meeting place.
