The old man on the park bench
puffed his worn pipe happily.
His wife held her gifted flower,
as she sipped sweet herbal tea.

Spring air was layered in fragrant scents,
he smiled sagely at his wife.
"Our final days, in many ways
should celebrate our life."

Their kids were boldly hinting
with brochures of old folk's homes,
but he had found a better plan,
his imagination roamed.

"Let's not sacrifice our days
shuffling 'round inside.
Dear, I bought us tickets
on a year cruise and besides,

the two tickets are cheaper
just look!" as he unfurled,
their future in a brochure
to sail around the world.

"Oh, the kids will hate this.
They will cry, this won't go well!"

"We'll explain to them on postcards,
from the island of Seychelles."
