A Falling Leaf

Leaf
flutters
in the wind
like a startled
monarch butterfly
loops, swoops and wildly dips
over bushes, trees and lawns
then joins its crimson mates in flight
across a canary yellow sky
while I, mesmerized, watch each fade away.
