A Life of Contrasts

by LisaMay

My raw hearts-and-bones world began with adoption as an infant. I embody life’s yin and yang of dualities. Via family tragedy and a generally sunny nature, I evolved to keep the dark at bay through humour – becoming resilient yet vulnerable, brave but anxious.

I was loved and have loved, sometimes inappropriately, but have suffered abuse.

I love children and playing, but don’t have a family myself. I’m a good friend, but others let me down. I embrace the outdoors and travelling, especially by motorbike, but my home is my refuge.

A graphic design career kept my energy focused. Aligned, now I’m immersed in creative pursuits.

When I was young, I had a recurring dream of being a little winged hero. Now I wear a mantle of responsibility – I cared for my father through his Alzheimer’s, and I’m involved currently with conservation issues and nurturing my city’s cultural life.
