Washington Is Not A Swamp

by Robert Zimmerman

There is a cesspool in the land
            in Washington, DC.
Some people there say it’s a swamp,
it’s not a swamp to me.
Some critters live within the swamp,
            a cesspool, not so much.
A swamp is teeming with good life
            A cesspool is a smutch.
When Donald Trump said Washington
           was just a nasty mess
He underestimated it.
           He should have said abscess.
The man for whom the city’s named
           Is rolling in his grave.
The city that received his name
           is like an autoclave.
I have no faith in Washington,
the town, but not the man.
The legislature’s worthless and
          has no attention span
There is one task they’re aiming for,
there’s just one piece of biz,
to overturn a President,
and that is all there is.
