Lightning charges the air causing thunder

Thunderstorm Pair

Did you ever wonder where
thunder comes from?
Is there a magic place where
Mother Nature beats on a drum?
 
No, actually, Thunder has a partner
Lightning is his name, these
Two together have gained much fame
Thunder booms Lightning zooms though the air
Together they make the “thunderstorm pair”
 
Lightning’s streaks don’t mess around
They quickly jump from clouds to ground
Then straight back up never bounce around
Lightning explodes the air with booming bursts of noise
If they are loud enough might even rattle some of your toys

So, you see my friends Lightning is the
Reason for the booming Thunder you hear
But don’t be afraid though the two can be scary
There is, much of the time, nothing to fear
