Return To Me (a sonnet)

          If ever you are lost inside the fray,
          remember there is calm at your behest.
          My healing has been proven to allay,
          to place your weary head upon my breast.

          The freedom you will find within my soul
          allows you to explore that which you need.
          The absence of misgivings or control
          enables me to quickly intercede.

          However, we both know you cannot stay.
          You leave again to face a ruthless foe.
          Still I will keep this parting pain at bay,
          that weakens me each time I watch you go.

          This endless war to me of no concern.
          Your sanctuary waits for your return.
