My Lady Inspiration

by HarryT

No telling when my lady, Inspiration
Will be kind and bestow her favors

Often I long for her, searching
Billowing skies and blowing trees
Blooming flowers and scurrying animals
Soft flowing music and news stories
But she hides, I know not where or why a
Glowing will-o’-the wisp in the somewhere

However, sometimes in the deep dark of night
She’ll come drifting in a misty dream, in the
Morning I must hurry to paper or her gift is lost
Other times when enjoying a hot shower
She’ll come, Why now? I shout at her, she
Smirks as I run dripping for paper and pen

My lady, Inspiration is a fickle woman
She comes with a flaring gown, swirling,
Whirling in the canyons of my mind
But other times, she is barely there
Teasing, twisting dropping hints like leaves
Twirling around in a huffing autumn breeze

And worst of all sometimes she is nowhere

And yet, I have faith in my lady, as long as
I try to write, even when my mind seems dry
She will come to me and pacify my thirst
