A rhyming tale of hunger and eating

A chapter in the book All-time and Everywhere Reading

Mr. Jelly and his Big, Fat Belly

by Katherine M. (k-11)

Mr. Jelly scratched his belly.

As it wiggled he giggled,
And it wobbled as he gobbled.

He gobbled his tea,
Eating custard, you see.

Mr. Jelly's not bold, and the climate is cold.
So, his belly quivered as his legs shivered,
And it quakes as he eats cakes.

He yearned for some mustard to eat with the custard,
Coz all the shaking and aching from far too much baking,
Were bad for his fang, making it twang.

My Mister Jelly has the physical shape of the one Roger Hargreaves created... over forty years ago. However, in character the two have nothing in common. Mine is neither scared nor anxious. Food is one of his favourite occupations, like the muse for this rhyme.
